European Cheeses Took the Spotlight at the 2025 Summer Fancy Food Show in New York

From June 29 to July 1, European cheeses were once again in the spotlight at the Summer Fancy Food Show 2025, the premier annual trade event for the gourmet and specialty food sector, organized by the Specialty Food Association. Held at the renowned Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, the event brought together professionals from across the global food industry.

This year’s edition attracted over 29,000 participants, including more than 7,700 verified buyers, 850 media professionals and influencers, and countless decision-makers from the food and hospitality sectors. The show served as a key opportunity for networking, trend-spotting, and discovering exceptional food products from around the world.

A Prime Showcase for Europe’s Cheese Heritage

For European cheeses, the Summer Fancy Food Show was once again a must-attend platform to highlight their quality, diversity, heritage, and artisanal traditions. Visitors had the opportunity to explore a curated selection of cheeses with Protected Designation of Origin (P.D.O.), each with a compelling story behind its flavor and craftsmanship.

The European cheese booth, located on Level 3 at booth #944, featured tastings led by acclaimed master cheesemaker Erin T. Connolly, who introduced attendees to some of the most iconic cheeses from across Europe. Among the featured selections were:

  • P.D.O. Arzúa-Ulloa – A creamy cow’s milk cheese from Galicia
  • P.D.O. Murcia al Vino – A goat’s milk cheese from Murcia, aged in local red wine
  • P.D.O. Idiazabal – A smoked sheep’s milk cheese from the Basque Country
  • P.D.O. Manchego – The internationally renowned sheep’s milk cheese from La Mancha

These and many other varieties captivated both seasoned buyers and curious newcomers with their depth of flavor and rich cultural roots.
